With sunny beaches and charming seaside towns, it’s easy to see why the best beach resorts in Italy attract families.

Jump to:
We went to Italy for a family vacation and quickly realized how popular the country is for seaside holidays.
Even though our trip focused more on cities and sightseeing, it was clear that many travelers visit Italy specifically for its beautiful coastline and relaxing beach resorts.
Before we shifted into beach mode, we spent time in Rome, and that part of the trip taught us something useful. Letting someone else lead the way on the best food tours in Rome made the days feel easier, especially when they knew exactly where locals actually eat.
Having a short list of where to eat in Rome also saved us from the tired, end-of-day debate of picking a restaurant while everyone was hungry. When we needed a slower pace, my guide to the best day trips from Rome for families gave us a quick reset outside the city without adding complicated travel days.
That city-to-coast rhythm is what made the whole trip feel more balanced. Once we had a few busy days behind us, the idea of checking into a beach resort felt even better, because we were ready for space, water, and a schedule that basically planned itself.
In fact, there are many top family resorts in Italy near the beach if you want a fun family vacation. Many of these properties offer spacious rooms, swimming pools, private beach access, and activities designed for children.

Choosing the Best Family-friendly Resort
When traveling with kids, choosing the right resort can make a big difference. Family-friendly properties often offer spacious rooms, swimming pools, easy beach access, and convenient dining options that make daily routines simpler.
It’s also helpful to look for resorts with activities designed for children, such as kids’ clubs, playgrounds, or organized entertainment. These features help keep younger kids engaged while allowing parents to relax and enjoy their holiday.
Top Beach Resorts in Italy Perfect for Families
La Serena Hotel Forte Dei Marmi

Location: Via Matteo Civitali, 51, 55042 Forte dei Marmi
Tucked into a quiet residential corner of Forte dei Marmi in Tuscany, La Serena captures that relaxed Tuscan feel, with polished yet welcoming interiors dressed in soft coastal tones.

Their rooms are airy and comfortable, with plenty of natural light during the day. At night, the blackout curtains and the quiet neighborhood setting make it easy to get proper rest — something that matters so much when traveling with kids.

The hotel’s garden and seasonal outdoor pool will be a hit among kids. They're peaceful spots where kids can splash while parents (and grandparents) can unwind with a coffee or aperitivo nearby.

What makes it especially great for families is how effortless everything feels. The beach is just a short walk or bike ride away (and the hotel provides bicycles, which turns a simple outing into part of the fun).
Hotel Romazzino Costa Smeralda

Location: Via Romazzino, 4, 07021 Arzachena OT, Italy
Nestled on a pristine stretch of Costa Smeralda in Sardinia, Hotel Romazzino offers a picture-perfect setting with turquoise waters of the Mediterranean and its own private beach just steps from the property.

This resort pulls out all the stops for amenities! There are two outdoor swimming pools, a private beach with watersports like windsurfing and kayaking, a tennis court, and even a spa and fitness center for parents who want a little downtime.

An interesting amenity here is their Toy Club, which offers supervised activities for children up to age 12. Think games, arts and crafts, treasure hunts, and even splash play right by the beach.

With so much to explore (both in the water and on land), it’s a place where kids can be entertained, and parents can unwind, all in one stunning Sardinian setting.
Hotel Cala di Volpe

Location: Costa Smeralda, 07020 Porto Cervo OT, Italy
Cala di Volpe is also located on the emerald bay of Costa Smeralda. It has pastel-hued buildings, manicured gardens, and a view of the azure sea. It's one of the best luxury beach resorts in Italy. In fact, it has a 5-star rating.

The guest rooms are elegant and classic, with tasteful Sardinian-inspired décor and plenty of light pouring in through windows or private balconies overlooking the sea or gardens. Many rooms are perfectly sized for couples or small families.

When it comes to amenities, Cala di Volpe truly delivers: the saltwater pool by the sea is one of the largest you’ll find on the Mediterranean, lined with loungers and umbrellas for lazy afternoons. There's even water sports here!
You're also given exclusive access to a private beach just minutes away by complimentary boat shuttle, multiple bars and restaurants serving delicious Italian cuisine.
Camping Village Parco della Gallinara

Location: Via Vecchiarelli Malvito, 2, 00042 Anzio
Set on the Lazio coast near Anzio, Parco della Gallinara lives right next to its own stretch of sandy beach, surrounded by a lovely pine forest that opens up onto the sea

We went here for a 4-day trip, and it was a lovely experience. Instead of traditional hotel rooms, Parco della Gallinara offers air-conditioned cottages and mobile homes dotted across its green parkland, each with its own patio and fully equipped kitchen or kitchenette.

The village’s on-site amenities are built for long, fun days outdoors: there’s a large seasonal outdoor pool with waterslides, a children’s pool, and plenty of sun terraces for lounging.

If you have a sports-loving husband like mine, they also have tennis courts, football pitches, padel courts, and even roller skating areas.
Parco della Gallinara truly strikes that perfect balance between structured fun and laid-back freedom, which, honestly, is exactly what you want on a family beach holiday in Italy.
Paestum Inn Beach Resort

Inside, the décor feels simple and modern, with clean lines, comfortable beds, and well-maintained bathrooms.

One of the highlights of the resort is its private beach area, where sunbeds and umbrellas are already arranged for guests.

There is also a large outdoor swimming pool surrounded by gardens and loungers. If you want to eat, the resort has an on-site restaurant and bar.
The layout of the resort makes it especially convenient for families. Kids can move easily between the beach and the pool while parents relax nearby, and the open outdoor spaces create a comfortable environment for everyone to unwind.

The resort has a mix of hotel-style rooms and spacious apartments, many with kitchenettes and private terraces, that work especially well for families. Interiors are bright and practical, with comfortable bedrooms and living areas.

You can enjoy multiple swimming pools, including one designed for children, as well as tennis courts, wellness facilities such as a sauna, and an on-site restaurant serving Italian dishes.

The mini club and organized activities keep kids entertained, while the wide open grounds give them space to run and play.
Hotel Nord Est

Location: Viale Carducci, 60, 47841, Cattòlica
Sitting right on the seafront in Gabicce Mare, Hotel Nord Est is perfectly positioned along the coast overlooking the Adriatic Sea. The sandy beach is just steps away, and the town’s lively promenade is an easy walk from the hotel.

The rooms feel bright and comfortable, with many featuring balconies that open toward the sea or the surrounding hills. Interiors are simple and practical, with modern bathrooms and enough space for families to settle in easily. Waking up to the soft light coming in from the coast adds a relaxed start to the day.

Guests have private beach access with reserved umbrellas and loungers. If you don't feel like going to the beach, there's a large, panoramic outdoor swimming pool and sun terrace facing the sea.

This hotel works particularly well for families because everything is close and easy to reach. Its location at the edge of town makes it easy to walk along the seaside promenade, where cafés, gelato shops, and beach clubs line the waterfront.
Asterias Residence - Rooms & SPA

Location: Via Martiri D'Ungheria, 9, 89812 Pizzo VV
Situated in the charming seaside town of Pizzo in Calabria, Southern Italy, Asterias Residence is a short walk from the historic center and the nearby Spiaggia della Marinella.
You can easily stroll to the waterfront, explore the town’s lively piazza, or stop by one of the many small restaurants and gelato shops in the evening.

One of the standout features of the property is its spa and wellness area, which includes a steam room, hot tub, and relaxation area.

There is also a pleasant outdoor swimming pool and bar surrounded by a garden and sun loungers, creating a quiet spot to unwind during the afternoon.

The rooms are bright, modern, and very well kept, with comfortable beds and tidy bathrooms that make it easy to settle in right away. Some rooms have small kitchenettes that add flexibility for longer stays.
The friendly hosts are often around the property and make a genuine effort to greet guests, offer suggestions for places to visit, and help with anything that might come up during the stay.
Modica Beach Resort

Location: Via del Laghetto ang, Via Taormina, 97010 Modica RG
Set on the southern coast of Sicily, this resort is near the golden sand beach and clear waters of the Marina di Modica.
The location works well for exploring the island. It's even possible to plan a one-day trip to Palermo, like we did, to experience another side of Sicily's beautiful culture and architecture.

Modica's family rooms are quite spacious, with large beds and roomy bathrooms. Some family suites include balconies or terraces where it’s possible to sit for a few minutes in the evening while the sea breeze comes in from the coast.

The resort has a large outdoor swimming pool with a sun terrace, private beach area, on-site restaurant with breakbust buffets and regional dishes available, and a bar.

- For those who want extra relaxation, the resort also includes wellness facilities such as a sauna, Turkish bath, and aromatherapy treatments.
Families benefit from additional services like babysitting and organized outdoor activities for children, which help keep younger kids entertained during the stay.
Salento Boutique Room

Location: Via Martiri Neretini, 38, 73048 Sant'Isidoro LE
Found in the seaside town of Porto Cesareo, this small boutique B&B sits in the heart of the Salento peninsula in Puglia, just a short walk from the beach and the town’s lively waterfront.

The hotel only has four rooms in total, making it a great option if you're going for a serene vacation. It's like staying in a small guesthouse rather than a large hotel.
- All rooms are newly renovated, very clean, and well-equipped with essentials like AC, private bathrooms, and TVs.

The owner, Danilo, is welcoming, attentive, and always happy to share recommendations for nearby beaches, restaurants, and places to explore around Porto Cesareo. He would also help arrange suitable breakfast items for those with dietary restrictions, as I do!
Breakfast is usually arranged through a partnership with a nearby café, where guests can enjoy fresh pastries, fruit, coffee, and local specialties in the morning before heading out to explore the coast.
Hotel Tirreno

Location: SS 1, 2, 17028 Spotorno SV, Italy
Set in the coastal town of Finale Ligure, this hotel is located right along the Italian Riviera, a region known for its relaxed seaside atmosphere and scenic stretches of coastline.
It's a great base for exploring nearby cities. In fact, we even took a one-day trip to Genoa.

Hotel Tirreno offers a wide range of amenities, such as a large outdoor swimming pool with a hydromassage area, a snack bar, an on-site restaurant serving regional dishes and buffet breakfast, mini-club activities and entertainment programs for children, sports, and recreational areas.
The hotel also provides access to a private beach area, which can be reached easily by shuttle service during the day.

Do note that the shoreline in this area tends to be sandy and pebbly, which is typical for many beaches along the Ligurian coast. In the evenings, the shuttle also connects guests to nearby Tropea.
With so many facilities in one place, it’s easy to see why this resort is a great family-friendly choice.
